Ruhija Sector

Located in the eastern section of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Ruhija offers one of the most peaceful and scenic gorilla trekking experiences in Uganda. Sitting at a higher altitude than the other sectors, it provides breathtaking views of rolling hills, mist-covered forests, and distant mountain ranges.

Ruhija is less crowded, making it ideal for travelers looking for a quieter and more intimate trekking adventure. The cool mountain climate and dense vegetation create excellent conditions for mountain gorillas and an impressive variety of bird species.

The forest here is home to several habituated gorilla families, each with its own unique characteristics. Treks can range from relatively easy to physically demanding, depending on the movement of the gorillas.

Nature enthusiasts also appreciate Ruhija for its exceptional birdwatching opportunities, as the area is home to many Albertine Rift endemic species found nowhere else on Earth.
