Situated in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma is the oldest and most established gorilla trekking sector in Uganda. It was here that Uganda welcomed its first gorilla trekking visitors in 1993, making it a favorite among travelers seeking both history and exceptional wildlife experiences.
Buhoma is known for its well-developed tourism infrastructure, comfortable lodges, and beautiful forest trails. The area is particularly appealing to visitors who prefer moderate hikes, although trekking times vary depending on where the gorilla family is located on the day of your visit.
Several habituated gorilla families call Buhoma home, offering visitors a memorable opportunity to observe these magnificent primates in their natural environment while enjoying the rich biodiversity of Bwindi Forest.
Besides gorilla trekking, visitors can also enjoy guided forest walks, birdwatching, Batwa cultural encounters, and scenic nature trails such as the Munyanga River Walk.
